August 2007
Howdy y’all…..ok, I promised a new format for the newsletter, but there has been so much going on, and so many more updates and forms to make sure you all get, that here is another very large, very formal mailing. I hope summer is going well for everyone, the competitive season is just around the corner….enjoy your time off as soon we will be full in the swing of things…
First off a report from the national state judging director meeting in San Antonio, TX. Remember the Alamo!!! If you have never been to the Alamo, it is about the size of a taco bell….in fact there was a haagen daaz right next door (literally). The gardens were beautiful….there is , however, in fact no basement at the Alamo…I asked. (can anyone name the movie that question refers to??) The staff on hand was not amused at the question at all. AT ALL. The riverwalk was beautiful, even though Judy Kemp refered to it as “a damned ditch”. We were there wile the NBA finals were going on…which allowed us easy access to the restaurants, since everyone was at the game (I think it was a tennis match….right??...if it involves a ball I am totally lost, so I’m not real sure). Though I did hear that Eva Langoria was in town….I tried to find her to get an autograph, but I guess she was busy burning down someone’s house, sleeping with her gardener, or torturing her maid. (That was a Desperate Housewives reference…for those of you that were totally confused, you know how I would feel at a basketball game.) As for the meeting, we discussed National Judges Cup, NCAA, JO Rule Changes, New Fee Structure, New Uniforms, etc; all of which I have passed on to you already. I thought you might like to hear about the trip though….
PS..I was there during the drought, not the flood….but I hear they are back to a drought again…..texas weather ya know
Angela Haagen and I also attended an elite regional meet at Cincinatti Gymnastics earlier this month. We had a great time, and saw some great gymnastics. The only hitch was the trip home (six hours for me from Cincinnati back to Louisville). That wasn’t fun. We got some great footage for training dvd’s.
OK…..back to business
Here is a rundown of what is enclosed……like last month…please try to keep this together if you are going to attend the State Clinic Sept 8 at Bardstown Gymanstics as most of the information enclosed will be covered in the update session I will be presenting.

Some miscellaneous information you may want to use in the future.
That should cover all that’s in here. Hopefully, from now on the newsletters will be emailed and available online at the new ky website, which should be up in a couple weeks. Lots of thanks to Monica Kennedy who has taken on the task of putting together the website and keeping it updated. If you have anything to be included on the website, or any judging/gymnastic related pictures for it, please email them to Monica or myself. Thanks again Monica for all your work on our new, dynamic site.
That should about cover it for another month. I look forward to seeing everyone at upcoming events…hit me up if you have any questions or concerns.
