KYNAWGJ Newsletter
March 2009
Whew, what a year!! Well as the season winds down I want to take a minute to thank everyone for helping out keep the season going smoothly through all the craziness. This newsletter will just have some general information notes covering things that have happened and will be happening this season.
Judges’ Cup
Thanks to everyone who volunteered at judges cup in October. Banks have been updated and bonus checks have been mailed to those who worked all sessions. If your bank balance in your account at www.nawgjky.org doesn’t look right to you, email me and I can check into it.
Legacy hosted the meet this year, the facility was perfect for the event. We showed a good profit for having fewer entries than last year. I started handing out judges’ cup report forms before going in the hospital, so if you didn’t receive one and would like one, just let me know.
Several judges won giveaways during the course of the weekend, with Angela and Monica being selected as the winners of trips to an educational event of their choice for this coming summer!!
We received multitudes of good comments about all aspects of the meet, so thanks to everyone for making it run smoothly!!
National Judges’ Cup
National Judges’ Cup was held in Kissimmee, Florida in January. From all reports the meet was a success. Kentucky was represented by Pat Brainer and Mamie Vetter. There were lots of great stories from the meet, just ask Pat or Mamie if you would like to hear any of them. Region 5 was well represented as usual!! Word is next year’s meet will be Cincinnati.
Judges’ Critique Meet
We hosted a critique meet the first of March that was geared toward optional gymnasts planning on competing at state. The gymnasts had the opportunity to receive direct routine critique from judges who will be judging at their state meet. The meet was held at Champion gymnastics and was also a great success. The gymnasts received lots of great information and the judges’ also had a great opportunity to review and prepare for the upcoming state meet.

Upcoming Events
We will be having a Kentucky Judging Clinic Covering new rules early in the summer when we can figure a date to work out around the Brevet/National courses. Look for upcoming information on this clinic. This clinic will cover changes for the next cycle. Remember all judges who currently have or want to attain an optional rating must retest for this coming season. Compulsory ratings are good for another cycle.
Information on Brevet/national courses has been emailed to all eligible judges, if you didn’t receive this information, and think you may be eligible, please let me know and I will check and get it to you. All other optional level tests will be offered in the summer in Kentucky.
National Congress will be held in Dallas, Texas this year. The national Judging Symposium will not be held until 2010.
That’s the bulk of the information I have for this month. There will be another newsletter coming out in April that will contain more information on updates for next season, testing, and clinics!!
Thanks…..Happy St Patrick’s Day
Michael
