July 2007
Hi there everyone...Michael Crowe Here... recently elected KY SJD....thanks for your support, and I'm excited to be able to serve y'all and to help make your '07-'08 judging season the best yet!!! If you have any questions or problems...feel free to contact me anytime...my info is in the enclosed current ky judges list. I want to extend a big thank you to Pat for all her work and dedication over the last few years as our state director, she has my complete respect and admiration for the job she did.
Apology for the format of this newsletter, I'm working on my computer skills....
There are a lot of info in here...please take time to check each page (see links below) for important information. You will find uniform ordering information if you need any new pieces to your uniform, new rule changes for the upcoming season, info on meets, and lots AND LOTS of important information. Again, if you have any questions call me ASAP so we can all get on the same page.
Here are some things not covered in the following pages, but are IMPORTANT for you to know....
1. Here is a list of the new ky board members, we had only 5 interested candidates, so no election...they were elected by no one opposing...

Terry Cooper

Angela Haagen

Carole Liedtke

Michelle Putzig

Lindsey Reader
2. The Kentucky State Clinic will be held September 8 at Bardstown Gymnastics. There will be several judging and coaching sesions, and it will be sanctioned for CPE credit...contact me or Vicki Smith with any questions, info is currently being compiled for the clinic...I will let y'all know as soon as I know details...there will be live gymnast sessions, not just video...and some suprise clinicians from out of state...will be educational and fun for all who attend.
3. The Compulsory State Meet is being moved later than usual this year, so Judges Cup date may change to keep entries up...I will keep you posted on this as well. Incentive program for volunteering judges will be reworked this year, will let you know the new perks when it is all settled as well.
4. KY NAWGJ will be running a second meet later in the season too. We will host an optional critique meet between Derby Classic and State. I'm hoping to conduct one in Louisville, and One in Lexington...we won't necessarily score the gymnasts, but give them more of a critique on highs and lows in the routines. Will also let you know when this is all worked out.
5. Inside you will find a form to send in if you are interested in volunteering at any of the Region 5 camps. If you do send this form in, could you please send me a copy too, so I can keep up with who is doing what. Super Camp is to be held at Champion this year...great opportunity to help the region out, and see some exciting gymnastics from around the region. This camp typically attracts level 8/9 gymnasts.
6. We normally send in a Professional Involvement form to the Regional Directors due August 1st. This year they are reworking the form, should be available within days of this mailing on the Region 5 website. I will let you all know when it is available and where to download it, but probably wont be sending out a hard copy due to its inability to be included in this monsterous mailing.
7. Carole will be hosting a new judges clinic to cover basic info for level 5/6 and 8 October 14 from 10am to 4:30 pm. The clinic will be sanctioned for CPE. The Clinic is directed to new compulsory and/or optional level judges, but open to all. If interested contact me or carole for registration information. Both of our contact info is in the enclosed list. It will be held at her house, unless several sign up in which case it will be moved to larger site. We will be offering a testing session in October...at Judges' Cup if the date for the Judges Cup doesn't change. The clinic will cost $20. If you are in current NAWGJ member the Kentucky NAWGJ will cover your cost for attending.
Whew...I think thats all...lots of info in here...PLEASE LOOK ALL OVER CAREFULLY...I will have duplicates of this newsleter available, but they will cost whatever the printing cost is when I run this to Kinko's in a minute..lol...also there will be an update session at the Sept 8 clinic that I will be running...BRING THIS WITH YOU IF YOU ATTEND....I will be covering the material enclosed, as well as any current updates as of Sept 8. I will be attending National Congress a couple of weeks prior to the KY Clinic, and I'm sure there will be several changes by then.
Thanks, love ya all...have a great summer...I'd say look for a newsletter roughly every two months, not as massive as this one...unless there is not enough info, then it may be every three....but there is ALWAYS A LOT OF INFO...lol.
Michael Crowe, SJD
