KYNAWGJ Newsletter
September 2008

OK!!!  Hello All.  This is the big update newsletter I’ve been compiling for a couple months, and it is finally ready to go.  For those of you receiving this by email there will be a series of emails containing all attachments which will keep you current for the whole season.  Each email will be labeled what type of attachments are included with it.  Please take the time to print each attachment to go through and make sure you have all information you need for the season.  Thanks a bunch!!
Included in attachments in this email are attachments about judges’ cup and the clinic coming up this weekend.  These are the most important to look over immediately.
The clinic coming up this weekend (October 4) is going to be a great learning experience with both national level coaches and judges presenting topics for your review.  Please make sure to attend to get the latest updates and judging/coaching information as well as fellowship with the Kentucky usag community.  It will be a great experience for all.  CPE Credit is also available for this clinic.
Our judges’ cup is to be hosted this year by Legacy Gymnastics in Lexington, KY October 25, 26, 2008.  Please find the schedule and benefit for working sheet attached with this newsletter.  Assignments will be soon forthcoming for both judging and support positions.  This is always a great event and I have no doubt this year will be no different.  We have about 300 registered gymnasts this year. We will also be hosting an optional critique meet for levels prep through 10 March 1, 2009 at Champion Gymnastics in Louisville.  Look for more info to come about this meet as it is available.
This summer presented several educational opportunities for several Kentucky Judges.  Candace Alvey and I attended the national congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Carole Liedtke and I both attended the Region 5 Judging Symposium in Downer’s Grove, Illinois.  Carole Presented two sessions she will again be hosting at the Kentucky Clinic, and I helped with practice judging sessions for compulsory levels.  There were also sessions on updates, National Testing Practice sessions, review of compulsory and optional rules, a session on choreography as pertaining to gymnastics from the view of a broadway choreographer, and mistake management in judging.  Handouts from this event will be available at the Kentucky Clinic.  Pat Brainer, Guy Crocetti, and Mamie Vetter also all attended the Region 5 mini Congress in Indianapolis, IN.  Good job everyone for keeping Kentucky NAWGJ up to date!
A couple notes to keep in mind:
1.Mileage is now .58/mile as of July 1, 2008…make changes on any forms.
2.Anyone interested/eligible for the national or brevet course who has not received info on the courses for next summer should contact me.
3.NCAA judges must be registered in the troester site by October 1, 2008.
If you have not yet updated your KYNAWGJ Account or sent me your availability, please do so ASAP, all fall meets are currently being assigned and the winter compulsory state meet will be assigned soon.
Thanks everyone, get ready for a great season
